“I get knocked down, but I get up again” – A qualitative exploration of posttraumatic growth after multiple traumas.

Theories of positive change following traumatic events, known as posttraumatic growth (PTG), posit that occurs in pre-determined domains. However, the domains which have largely been suggested from results studies looked at isolated events. The current paper has two aims: first, to explore whether looking for only limits opportunities identify other changes may occur; and second, describe processes outcomes survivors multiple, rather than single, Twenty-six semi-structured interviews analyzed with thematic analysis revealed themes (outcomes trauma processing trauma) seven subthemes (managing subsequent stressors, identity changes, co-existing negative trauma-related thoughts, control perceptions, spiritual challenges social support disclosure). Of these themes, ability handle not previously reported qualitative studies. More flexible conceptualizations are needed understand nuances among multiple types.
